Setup Failed while creating ISA Server storage

By | December 6, 2008

Migrating from ISA 2004 Standard Edition to ISA 2006 Standard Edition and the installation comes up with the following error message “Setup Failed while creating ISA server storage”. The ISA 2006 installation rolls back, interestingly it wipes ISA 2004 off of the server.

NB: Hoping that you took ISA 2004 backup before running ISA Server 2006 setup.

Resolution:

To work around this problem, follow these steps.

Right Click My Computer – Properties – go to Computer Name – Rejoin your ISA Server to the Domain – allow your Server to restart. After a reboot – my ISA 2006 Server Installation completed successful. All I did was to import data from an exported XML (ISA 2004 backup) configuration file into a newly installed ISA 2006 Server.

If for some strange reasons the above steps doesn’t resolve your problem. Please feel free to contact us for further technical assist.
